Sew Your Own Sling

So many sling companies now have fantastic patterns and fabrics out as oppose to the standard black or solids, but they aren't always cheap ($260 for a silk sling?) and often with patterns it is hard to find one that you know will fit your wardrobe and personality. Making a sling yourself seems easy enough, but how do you know your sling will be safe?

Enter Sling Rings! These nylon and aluminum rings have been put through a battery of tests to insure their stability (Impact Testing, Pull Testing, Soaked in bleach and then a full washer/dryer cycle, along with Heating and Freezing). They are sure to hold the load of your baby or toddler and last through years of wear.

Instructions on Basic Sling, Reversible Slings, Fleece Slings, and the fabulous No-Sew method.

Keep Slinging Through the Snow!

Just because it is getting cold doesn't mean that you have to stop baby-wearing for the winter. Check out the Peekaru Original- it is a fleece vest that zips over your baby carrier to keep you both warm. It fits comfortably over most carriers. It is a green purchase as well, as the Peekaru is made from 85% recycled fleece.

Baby Sling... and Hammock

I was looking at this sling company today, didymos, and in their photo gallery I found several examples of sling-use that I had never seen or thought of before.... using it as a baby hammock!

Fussy baby not wanting to sleep in the pack 'n play? Rig it up so the baby can sleep in a hammock.

Out camping, hiking, or enjoying an afternoon in the park? Let the baby take a nap in a tree- just tie up the sling into a hammock. Genius.

Isn't Keri Russell Cute?

Last time we saw Keri Russell with her little guy, she looked a tad uneasy slinging him around. Now, she's a pro! As you can probably tell, I am a huge fan of slings. They are just so easy to use, so comfortable and have tons of benefits.

Celebabies

Of People magazine's top 5 most read articles today, 3 are about celebs and their expanding families. One caught my eye; Keri Russell who was carrying her new little boy in a sling baby carrier. She appears to be still adjusting to using it. The reason the sling carriers are so great is that you can go hands free, but she still is supporting the little guy.
